In 1979, Jerry Sims embarked on a journey after graduating from Berklee College of Music. He made the decision to open his guitar teaching studio in Columbia, SC, alongside his wife, Debbie. Starting with a modest teaching space and a small shop selling guitar strings, the studio and shop began to flourish over the years. Through hard work and the support of the vibrant music community in Columbia, Sims Music has grown into the foremost music retailer in the Carolinas.

A key factor in Sims Music's success has been its exceptional staff, many of whom have been with the shop for over two decades. Their dedication has transformed the store into a welcoming haven where musicians find friendly and familiar faces ready to assist with their musical needs. Jerry Sims has always strived to elevate the quality of the product selection and, most importantly, the level of service.
