Pork Pie Snare Drums Have Arrived at Sims Music!

We've got some exciting news for our drum department! After years of talking about bringing Pork Pie Percussion into Sims Music, we've finally made it happen, and our first batch of snare drums has officially arrived!

This is one of those brands we've wanted to carry for a long time. Pork Pie has built an incredible reputation among drummers for their craftsmanship, unique finishes, and, most importantly, their sound. We've had so many customers over the years tell us how much they love their Pork Pie drums, and as we've continued expanding our drum department and growing our snare drum selection, we knew Pork Pie needed to be part of it.

There's a little personal history behind this one, too. Pork Pie owner Bill Detamore is a good friend of Rick Murray, our former Ludwig and Sabian representative and a longtime friend of Sims Music. Through that connection, we've been talking about getting Pork Pie into the shop for years. Sometimes things just take a little longer to come together, but we're thrilled that the timing finally worked out.

One of the coolest parts of bringing in this line has been working directly with Bill. Rather than just ordering a standard assortment of drums, Bill has worked one-on-one with Justin to hand-select our entire opening selection. We've spent time going through different shell materials, sizes, finishes, and configurations to put together a collection that offers something a little different from what we already have on the floor. That's something we really appreciate about working with smaller, independently owned drum companies. You get to deal directly with the people who are actually building the instruments, and their passion for what they do really shows.

Our first shipment includes seven incredible snare drums, and we've already got more on the way!

Here's what's arrived so far:

A Thai Oak shell with a sleek Flat Black Lacquer finish. Definitely something different for our snare wall!

We couldn't be happier with how these drums turned out. The finishes are incredible in person, the attention to detail is obvious, and the drums sound fantastic. There's something really special about a snare drum that catches your eye from across the room and then sounds even better once you sit down and play it. These definitely check both boxes.

Over the past year, we've put a lot of effort into making the drum department at Sims Music an even better destination for drummers. From expanding our cymbal selection and building out our dedicated cymbal and snare room to bringing in more unique and boutique drum offerings, our goal has been to give customers a selection they simply can't find everywhere else. Adding Pork Pie is another big step in that direction.

And we may not be stopping at snare drums! We're also talking about bringing in Pork Pie drum thrones in the near future. They've been a favorite among drummers for years, and we think they'd be a great fit for the shop.

A huge thanks to Bill Detamore for taking the time to work with us personally and helping put together such a great opening assortment. We're excited to finally have Pork Pie represented at Sims Music, and we're looking forward to building on the relationship.

If you're a drummer in the Columbia area, come by and check these out! We've got them on display, and we'd love for you to sit down, play a few, and hear what makes Pork Pie drums so special. Whether you're looking for your next main snare or just something different to add to your collection, we've got some really cool options waiting for you.

Welcome to Sims Music, Pork Pie!
