From the golden era of swing to today’s stages and studios, Slingerland has shaped the sound of countless drummers including Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Cozy Cole, Bernard Purdie, Greg Bissonette, Tre Cool, and many more.

A Storied History
1920s: Slingerland Banjo Co. acquires Liberty Drum Co. in Chicago, IL, releasing its first catalog.
1930s: The legendary Radio King snare drum debuts, endorsed by Gene Krupa, forever changing the sound of swing.
1950s: Factory moves from Chicago to Niles, IL.
1960s: The innovative Zoomatic Strainer is introduced.
1970s: Bud Slingerland retires, marking the end of an era.
1980s–1990s: After several ownership changes, Gibson acquires Slingerland.
2010: Drum Workshop (DW) purchases Slingerland, preserving its legacy.
2020s: Roland acquires DW/Slingerland, marking the start of the Oxnard Era — a new chapter for this legendary brand.
