THE VAULT HAS BEEN UNSEALED: The Armand Zildjian Personal Collection

“Whether you are a drummer or not, Armand Zildjian’s life and career as a cymbal builder helped shape the music that we’ve loved throughout our lives.”

Over the years I have been very fortunate to visit the Zildjian factory in Norwell, Massachusetts several times. For an avid drummer, as soon as you pull up to the building, you are quickly overwhelmed with an excitement like no other. Once entering the building you are immediately blown away by the amount of history on display, from the Zildjian family tree painted around the building, photos and autographs of legendary drummers, and actual kits, played by the very same legends. But what is probably the greatest part of the entire facility is what you see right before you enter the official factory... the replica entrance to the original Zildjian factory in Quincy, MA. Inside this glass door, you can see thousands of cymbals that have been passed down throughout the Zildjian family, and have remained as an untouched family collection… until now.

In honor of what would’ve been Armand Zildjian’s 100th birthday, the Zildjian family is releasing 100 of these legendary cymbals to the United States and we were lucky enough to get to receive one of them. These 1940s-1950s vintage As are a true piece of music history and some even include fingerprints, which are believed to be those of Armand Zildjian himself. Included with this cymbal are a pair of limited edition Armand Zildjian signature drum sticks in walnut stain with gold foil signature, a pair of gloves, a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, and a book celebrating Armand’s life and legacy, all included inside a Calzone road case.

Whether you are a drummer or not, Armand Zildjian’s life and career as a cymbal builder helped shape the music that we’ve loved throughout our lives. His contribution to the music industry and to all of our lives is being celebrated in perfect fashion and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this historic event with the release of the Armand Zildjian personal collection cymbal.
