Gold. All that glitters, right?
Gold is the color associated with one of the grandest celebrations of them all: the 50th anniversary. But Caroline Guitar Company has decided not to wait that long.
By the time the big 5-0 rolls around, Philippe would be in his eighties—and if he’s still around, nobody really wants him designing pedals between naps. So while everyone is still young enough to enjoy it, Caroline is celebrating 15 years of making pedals and more than 3,000 Hawaiian Pizza fuzzes with a gorgeous gold finish.
But this Pizza has more going on than just a fancy new box. Inside is a specially tweaked circuit featuring two NOS Motorola 5089 transistors—and these old-school components are seriously nasty in all the right ways.
They offer more gain than the standard Hawaiian Pizza circuit while producing a little less noise. Backing down the effect input (Shiny Watch) or supply voltage (Carrots) controls brings out sticky, crunchy fuzz textures that make this anniversary edition every bit as fun to play as it is to look at.
